Differences between addresses with the same 20B hash (Hash 160)

Differences between addresses with the same 20B hash (Hash 160) Why the same Hash 160 has different balance in Bitcoin network? Hash 160 is B0D5D1FB94B76B39EE82771027BEFD17131042FA. In the one way it is the address 1H825FgspbkznbiGAnAjFjan7dmYFjpsFe that has zero balance. By the second way, it is the another address 3Hp2zoBKNW5NsmQhHsqKgMwiGA4FoUj9Q4 that has non-zero balance. I try to track it on blockchain.info site. Why there are that differences? https://ift.tt/2J9pMhd

How to spend nonstandard transaction output

How to spend nonstandard transaction output I play around with transactions and testnet and created (not broadcasted yet) transaction with the following scriptPubKey: "256 OP_CHECKSEQUENCEVERIFY OP_DROP OP_DUP OP_HASH160 <pkh> OP_EQUALVERIFY OP_CHECKSIG". Now I'd like to sign a spend. Is there any standard approach or has it not been implemented in bitcoin core? The tool bitcoin-tx seems to be able to sign transactions, although I'm not sure if this is what it was designed for, namely bitcoin-tx -testnet -create in='<txid>:<vout>:256' outaddr=<val>:<addr> set=prevtxs:'[{..."scriptPubKey":<script-to-spend>...}]' set=privatekeys:'[<privKey>]' sign=ALL This command ends with no error, but produces not-signed transaction. The program seems not to validate syntax of the script, since if I set as prevtxs["scriptPubKey"] some invalid script, it doesn't throw any error (e.g. swap OP

Bitcoin mining difficulty and hash rate

Bitcoin mining difficulty and hash rate On blockchain.info there is the charts that shows the mining difficulty over time and the hash rate over time. See: Hash: https://blockchain.info/nl/charts/hash-rate Mining difficulty: https://www.quandl.com/data/BCHAIN/DIFF-Bitcoin-Difficulty Can someone explain what the difference is between the two? The reason I ask is that some paper argues that if more power is required to mine Bitcoins, the value should go up. As explanatory variable, they usually refer to hash rate. I'm trying to find out what the difference is between mining difficulty and hash rate in order to understand why those papers wouldn't use mining difficulty as explanatory variable. https://ift.tt/2pVzXOj

Verify user public key by signing raw transaction with private key

Verify user public key by signing raw transaction with private key I have to verify that user who enters public key of his address verify his address by signing a neutral raw transaction which won't be broadcasted. Don't know which transaction to use to create a new raw transaction. I have tried to make send to same address in order to make transaction that will be input for raw transaction but I got 16: mandatory-script-verify-flag-failed (Script evaluated without error but finished with a false/empty top stack element) when I tried to send that transaction. https://ift.tt/2uBQZFW

Do all consensus algorithms aim to solve the Byzantine generals problem?

Do all consensus algorithms aim to solve the Byzantine generals problem? Can I clarify my understanding: Byzantine Fault Tolerance is a characteristic of a system to tolerate a class of failures belonging to the byzantine generals problem. Byzantine Fault tolerance is also the name of the consensus algorithm that solves the byzantine generals problem? I see Ripple as being BFT. Does it mean it uses some custom algorithm, that solves BFT? I also see Stellar uses BFT, does this mean that Stellar and Ripple Both use different algorithms that solve BFT? Edit: Can all Proof of Insert word algorithms be seen to be a part of BFT? Because POW uses a probabilistic model to solve the generals problem, but it is not seen as BFT. https://ift.tt/2pRWHim

Why coin wallet shows only 1 connection?

Why coin wallet shows only 1 connection? I have wallet software (compile for my altcoin) and there are 3 nodes running. When i run wallet software in Mac (not core wallet), it shows only one connection to altcoin network, when it should be 3. The 3 IPs are added through dns seeds. Why wallet software is not doing dns lookup and not connecting to 3 nodes? There is only one IP hardcoded into chainparamsbase.cpp. I cannot hardcode more IP into the code, wallets already compiled, which is why i am adding node IPs into DNS seeder. need the stratum url for zpool for sha-256

need the stratum url for zpool for sha-256 I'd like to use Zpool with my S9. I need the stratum URL to use for sha-256. They give examples for X11 and Scrypt. (looks like different ones based on algo) what is #xnsub ? Is it needed? https://ift.tt/2pSowXx

How two transactions with the same hash can cause double-spending

How two transactions with the same hash can cause double-spending Let's consider following situation: Vendor owns address X. Adversary sends transaction T1 to X with hash Y and receives product from vendor. Adversary sends transaction T2 to address which he owns with the same hash Y to other nodes. Vendor receives transaction T2 with same hash as T1, so from his point of view this is the same transaction. He ignores it. Other nodes receives transaction T1 after T2 so they ignores T1. Transaction T2 was sent to majority, so probability that T2 will be included in next block is higher than probability of inlcuding T1. According to probabilty, the transaction T2 was included in next block. Is this scenario of double-spend correct? https://ift.tt/2GXKika

Hypothetical, is it possible to retrieve stolen blockchain currency?

Hypothetical, is it possible to retrieve stolen blockchain currency? It is my understanding that blockchain technology is decentralized meaning there is no middle man in transactions. This seems like it has benefits but it also has downsides. When necessary, middlemen are able to retrieve objects under their control and redistribute. But with blockchain, if a private key is stolen (this will inevitably happen a lot; probably due to social engineering) and funds are transferred, how can they be recovered? Other than getting the culprit to hand over their private key of course. Is there any "police" mechanism within the blockchain technology? https://ift.tt/2GlBE1N

How can I arbitrage USD, BTC, USDT and UAD?

How can I arbitrage USD, BTC, USDT and UAD? I have this app that let's me add/buy/exchange FIAT currencies alongside a handful of top 20 coins. For this question let's assume I have access to USD, BTC, UAD trades without fees. However, the app does not have USDT (Tether) so I will need to go to an exchange for USDT and will incur fees there but I thought USDT was a stable way to take advantage of the USD UAD spread. I'm using the Australian UAD as an example because I see it is worth .77 USD today. My question is how do I actually arbitrage this... step by step. Please help https://ift.tt/2pReQg6

Do I have to know all my private keys for sending a "big" amount?

Do I have to know all my private keys for sending a "big" amount? As I understood it: My client creates a public key (for recieving) and a private key (for accessing) for each transaction. And the private key is here that I can send the BTCs I recieved (for all transactions only handled by this same public and private key pair where this private key is the private key). But what if I want to send a big amount of BTCs but I only have recievied many small amounts? Would I then have to mention each private key for each transaction that I can send this big amount? https://ift.tt/2GoXuNG

Are really all transactions (the whole blockchain) stored on every client?

Are really all transactions (the whole blockchain) stored on every client? I've read through some explanations saying that every client in the network knows every transaction because when someone wants to perform a transaction, he sends that informationen (how much, to whom and his own address) to everybody he knows and everybody they know and every.... and so on. Until it gets confirmed by everybody in the network. Then the transaction can take place. So everybody in the network knows that this transaction happens, and add the new block to their chain. Does REALLY everybody have the whole history of transactions (a.k.a one HUGE chain of blocks) stored on their (lets say) computer? Really all? Isn't this amount of bytes too much for normal hard disks (in my computer, smartphone, ...) considering ALL transactions which have ever happened and happen? https://ift.tt/2pSQTEq

Sgminer fork With Support for X16r and X16S for AMD GPU Miners

Sgminer fork With Support for X16r and X16S for AMD GPU Miners If you are looking for a miner for Ravencoin (RVN) and its X16r algorithm or Pigeoncoin (PGN) and its X16S algorithm for AMD GPUs, then you might want to check out this new sgminer fork by brianmct ( source ). There are pre-compiled binaries available for both Windows and Linux, so you should be covered for the two operating systems, if using Linux make sure you have the required dependencies installed. Unfortunately this may not be the best performing X16r and X16S hashrate wise as our initial tests show, but at least it works and you have a working miner for X16S for AMD until a faster solution that works becomes available. There are more forks of sgminer that are trying to implement X16S support, but apparently there are some trouble making them work. A faster performing X16r AMD GPU miner that we have already posted about is available here , but it does not have support for X16S. – To download the sgminer brianmct for

New Cast XMR Miner 0.9.2 Not Requiring the Blockchain Drivers Anymore

Image
New Cast XMR Miner 0.9.2 Not Requiring the Blockchain Drivers Anymore The Cast XMR CryptoNight GPU miner for AMD RX VEGA 56/64 GPUs has just been updated to version 0.9.2 with another important milestone – not needing the user to use the Blockchain AMD drivers for the optimal performance. The new version promises 99% the performance of the Blockchain Compute Beta driver achieved with the latest standard Radeon Driver 18.3.4 as well. This is definitely a relief for people still using the Blockchain drivers as they have some specifics in making them work properly and are not entirely bug free. We are reminding you that recently with the latest updates Cast XMR added support for the upcoming CryptoNightV7 POW fork for Monero (XMR) and other Cryptonight-based coins. Feel free to try the new version of Cast XMR with the latest 18.3.4 video drivers and report if you are getting the same performance on AMD Radeon RX VEGA GPUs as you are with the old Blockchain video drivers. – To download

The developers say that Purk was created to help content owners and service providers monetize their website or application by accepting quick and easy micropayments from their users or customers. Purk is based on Boolberry and CryptoNote technology and utilizes the Wild Keccak algorithm which helps balance CPU, GPU and ASIC mining speeds, whilst providing extremely fast block verification times. The Purk coin uses a new CPU and GPU (OpenCL) miner using Wild Keccak algorithm and compatible with both AMD and Nvidia GPUs and currently has only one official mining pool for the moment. Cryptomining in Games

Cryptomining in Games Following the press last months, you could read articles about cryptomining via javascript. Basically, you open a web page, and a villiant person/company/organisation put some code in website which uses your computers or mobile phone cpu to mine various crypto currency. At the first look, this doesn't look very effective, but the one using this approach is distributing the (possible small) processor load over many clients, and does not need to pay the energy needed for mining The problem with this approach is, that the user could detect this cpu-hijacking pretty easily, either by a high cpu load or a rapidly fast decreasing battery. Plus, many users tend to use an adblocker or similar things to avoid this. Thinking the whole thing one step furter: How to keep people from recognizing this? Assume you play the newest 3D shooter, you expect your cpu to be at high load. So what would prevent a software studio from putting some mining algorithm into the game&

Stellar and Gender Ratio

Stellar and Gender Ratio In " The Future of Money & Technology Summit 2014 ," Joyce Kim asserts that the user base of the Stellar cryptocurrency is 35% female. This percentage is much higher than any other gender ratio estimate for the cryptocurrency space I've found, which is especially surprising since 2014 was very primitive for cryptocurrency adoption. Is this statistic accurate and insightful? Was the Stellar user/developer community actually strides ahead of its neighbors in terms of gender equality, and if so, has it maintained this role through the present? Would Stellar's success be likely to accelerate gender equality in the crypto community? https://ift.tt/2IbqmcS

New X16r and X16S Mining Rigs Available for Rent at Mining Rig Rentals The popular service for leasing and renting mining rigs for different crypto algorithms – Mining Rig Rentals has just added support for the two of the latest and trending mining algorithms – X16r used by Ravencoin (RVN) and X16S used by Pigeoncoin (PGN). There are already more than a hundred mining rigs that support the X16r mining algorithm and about a third of that number with support for the more recent X16S, so if you are looking for some extra hash power to mine RVN or PGN at the moment you might want to check out the new sections. Both new coins and the algorithms they are using are generating a lot of attention at the moment, though it might be a bit of a gamble to go full on mining for either of them it may pay out very well in the end. Remember that with this service some people are leasing their mining hashrate while others are renting the available rigs, so you might want to try either of the sides and

Are You Looking for a Hardware Crypto Wallet We often get asked about hardware crypto wallets and what we would recommend and yet we have not covered that topic much, so it is about time we do it. There are pretty much 3 main products on the market that have been available for a while and have proven to be a reliable and most of all secure solutions for storing your crypto coins. These three manufacturers of hardware crypto coin wallets are: Ledger , Trezor and KeepKey and which of them you choose is often more of a personal preference. The one we actually prefer and use is the Ledger Nano S , though the company also makes Ledger Blue , a more powerful, bigger and feature rich device that of course also costs more. We have not used or even tried the Blue model yet, so there isn’t much that we can talk about it at this point and it is also currently out of stock at the official website, so not easy to get at the moment. Anyway, one of the main reasons why we have opted out for the

How can I know exact available balance for an address to spend?

How can I know exact available balance for an address to spend? Assume scenario as below. My address has 20BTC. I send 5 BTC to someone, My Final balance still shows 20 BTC, with -5 unconfirmed balance. so I assume my available balance to spend is 20 - 5 = 15 BTC. now assume before that transaction get confirmed, Suppose someone send another 3 BTC on my address. So now blockchain will show me. balance 20 BTC, unconfirmed balance: 2 BTC (i.e. -5 sent + 3 received) So I assume I have 18 BTC available to spend (20 - 2). but in real its only, 15 BTC (I have already sent 0.50 and not yet received 0.30 BTC) is there any way I can know final balance, unconfirmed sent and unconfirmed received separately? so in this case. final balance 20, unconfirmed sent 5, unconfirmed received 3 So I can calculate actual available balance to send i.e. 15 BTC https://ift.tt/2pKFjM9

There is an official 32-bit Windows binary release available compiled with CUDA 9.1, so make sure you have up to date video drivers on your mining rigs. The code is compatible with Linux as well, though you will need to compile it yourself (make sure you have CUDA 9.1 installed to compile from source). In theory the supminer should be faster than the other available ccminer forks with X16r support, but you should test and compare the different releases and see what works and performs best on your hardware. Splitting BTC and BCH from cold storage using bitcoin core wallet sending to exodus I had BTC long before the forks of BCH (bitcoin cash) and any of the others. I wanted to finally split some BCH off of my BTC and so this is what I attempted to do Bitcoin Core Wallet Send to Exodus Wallet I verified the blockchain and refreshed Exodus and I see .023 BTC ( $181.41 currently) . I clicked on Help in Exodus and the claim your bitcoin cash in which it is supposed to scan to see if I have any BCH It says none found. Either this is not how to find the BCH and split it of, or .023 BCH is too small of an amount ? What other decent options are there as I want to split up at least the BCH from the BTC . https://ift.tt/2usyaoI

Does every miner verify blocks that are already in the Blockchain

Does every miner verify blocks that are already in the Blockchain Once a miner adds a block to the chain, does every other miner have to check that block to make sure that its transactions don't violate any rules? For instance, if a miner added a block with an invalid transaction, is every other miner expected to check that block (and perhaps compare each transaction in it with every other transaction in every other block, to prevent, say, double spending)? https://ift.tt/2pHQi99

Best Public cyrptocurrency APIs to develop exchange We are developing cyrptocurrency API where we are relying on Blockcypher for several currencies. But we would like to add more and more currencies to our exchange. But it seems all crypto currencies look to develop our own node and make rpc request to that from localhost itself.
