Does Merkle Tree root hash changed when miner node not found POW nonce?

Does Merkle Tree root hash changed when miner node not found POW nonce? In bitcoin PoW process,if miner does not found the nonce, I understand that he must to increase nonce and rehash the entire block header again to mine the new block. so if nonce defined 4byte[between 0 and 2^31], goes from 0 to 2^31 finally and even not found the target hash, does the miner rehash the Merkle Tree including coinbase transaction? And what algorithm for miner to change coinbase transaction? http://bit.ly/2DNz7ui

My problem: I tried to mixed uppercase letters like this: btcClient.signRawTransactionWithKey(...) btcClient.signrawtransactionwithkey(...) btcClient.signRawTransactionWithkey(...) ... with always the same kind of error: signRawTransactionWithKey is not a function... In my text editor, I can see all the available functions for btcClient, sign R aw T ransaction is in the list but nothing like signRawTransactionWithKey. Why does my public IP show a Bitcoin Node is running when it is set up over Tor?

Why does my public IP show a Bitcoin Node is running when it is set up over Tor? I've set up my node to run exclusively over TOR. But when I check https://bitnodes.earn.com/ and a few other sites with my public IP to check if a bitcoin node is accepting incoming connections, it comes back that it is. How do I hide my public IP from showing that a full node is running ? My bitcoin.conf settings are as follows: txindex=1 server=1 rpcport=8332 listen=1 proxy=127.0.0.1:9050 bind = 127.0.0.1 onlynet=onion http://bit.ly/2Rrl8Ol

When walletnotify and blocknotify notifications are sent out?

When walletnotify and blocknotify notifications are sent out? Do the notifications from walletnotify and blocknotify are sent during the wallet synchronization or at the end? Say the wallet was offline for 100 blocks and when started: will it send the notifications after the each block it downloads and verifies and so all the relevant transactions in them or will it send them at the end? I would assume it sends them as it gets them, so then how would I resolve these properly if all the incoming request at that time are blocked? http://bit.ly/2RZ5PBG

New ccminer 2.3.1 from Tpruvot with Lyra2REv3 Support and More

Image
New ccminer 2.3.1 from Tpruvot with Lyra2REv3 Support and More It has been a quite a while since the last update of tpruvot’s ccminer fork ( source ), but there it is a new version 2.3.1 available now that comes with support for Lyra2REv3, sha256q, exosis and Blake2b standard algorithms. The official binary is 64-bit Windows only built with CUDA 10 for SM3+ devices, SM 7.5 architecture is also supported, but doesn’t seem to bring any advantage, for others variants you can build from the source code as the miner is opensource. Do note that CUDA 10 support requires an Nvidia video driver version 410.48 or newer. The most notable thing abut the new release is the support for Lyra2REv3 that will soon be used by the Vertcoin (VTC) after the upcoming hardfork expected to happen in less than two days. The fork should happen in around February 2nd as it is planned for block 1080000, so make sure you are ready with the required local wallet upgrade (if you are using one) as well as with a min

Latest Bminer 14.1.0 and NBMiner 14.0 With Massive BTM Improvement on Nvidia RTX GPUs

Image
Latest Bminer 14.1.0 and NBMiner 14.0 With Massive BTM Improvement on Nvidia RTX GPUs The latest releases of Bminer 14.1.0 and NBMiner 14.0 have announced pretty impressive performance increases regarding Bytom (BTM) mining hashrate on the new Nvidia RTX series of GPUs with up to about 200% boost, so a significant improvement indeed. This essentially makes the RTX series of GPUs the best choice for BTM mining with two to tree times faster hashrates compared to what their older GTX counterparts are able to deliver at the moment. Another new improvement that goes for both miners is the additional performance improvement in the range of about 30% for GRIN mining with hashrates very close for the two miners. Bminer also brings similar performance improvement for Aethernity like for Grin. So make sure you do try them both to see what may work better on your specific GPUs and settings if you are currently mining GRIN. Our tests are showing that the latest GMiner 1.25 still seems slightl

BEAM (Equihash 150,5) Support is Now Available on NiceHash

Image
BEAM (Equihash 150,5) Support is Now Available on NiceHash NiceHash hasn’t added new algorithms for a while now with ZHash being the last new addition in early December last year, so it is interesting that they have added support for BEAM now. This is both good and bad news for some people as the profit for selling your BEAM (Equihash 150,5) hashrate on NiceHash might bring you nice direct profit in BTC, but for the people mining BEAM directly is is not such good news as the hashrate has increased significantly and thus the difficulty is higher as well and less coins are being mined. Pool owners with BEAM support might be interested in checking out the BEAM NiceHash support specs in order to make sure that their pools will be compatible with hashrate coming from the service. We have already tried some of the popular mining software with NiceHash and it seems that there are no problems connecting and using Bminer and Gminer on Nvidia GPUs does seem to work without problems (remove th

Why is the obscured commitment number necessary in lightning commitment TX's?

Why is the obscured commitment number necessary in lightning commitment TX's? The obscured commitment number for each commitment transaction is the lower 48 bits of: SHA256(payment_basepoint from open_channel || payment_basepoint from accept_channel) It is encoded in the lock time and sequence fields (24bits each) of the commitment transaction. I don't understand why it is necessary, the BOLT rfc reads: This obscures the number of commitments made on the channel in the case of unilateral close, yet still provides a useful index for both nodes (who know the payment_basepoints) to quickly find a revoked commitment transaction. Why doesn't the TXID of the commitment TX suffice as lookup index key? http://bit.ly/2Wv2fhj

New Braiins OS Cobalt Release With Manual Fan Control Available

Image
New Braiins OS Cobalt Release With Manual Fan Control Available The Braiins OS is an alternative opensource OS for Bitcoin ASIC miners and more specifically for Antminer S9 and DragonMint T1 with support for AsicBoost. The initial release was not that easy to install and use, but looked very promising, but in December last year the second major version named Braiins OS Cobalt was made available and it made things much easier for everyone to switch from the factory firmware. The initial Cobalt release however was missing a crucial feature as we have noted and that was manual fan control as by default the automatic control was keeping high operating temperatures and fans spinning at lower RPM. This has been fixed in the new second release along with some more useful features and improvements worth upgrading to the new release or switching from the stock firmware. If you want to read the full list of what is new in the latest Braiins OS Cobalt release . In the latest version you have

Do extra hop channels in a BOLT#11 invoice need to exist on chain?

Do extra hop channels in a BOLT#11 invoice need to exist on chain? According to the BOLT#11 specification, a node may add extra routing information for private channels to an invoice, where they specify the public key of the penultimate hop, along with the short_channel_id. r (3): data_length variable. One or more entries containing extra routing information for a private route; there may be more than one r field pubkey (264 bits) short_channel_id (64 bits) ... However, unlike channels announced through a channel_announcement message, there are no signatures to prove that the invoice payee actually owns that channel, or even that it really exists. Technically, it appears that the invoice creator could point to any valid 2-of-2 UTXO on the chain and claim it to be their private channel. Do existing implementations check whether the transaction referred to by the r field's short_channel_id actually exists on the blockchain and that they are valid 2-of-2 multisig transaction

Are channel ids inherently linked to node ids in the Lightning protocol?

Are channel ids inherently linked to node ids in the Lightning protocol? I'm wondering if it is possible to shut down my node, change my node id, but persist my channels in the Lightning protocol. Is there an inherent limitation to the protocol that prevents this from happening? From looking from BOLT2 it seems like there isn't? http://bit.ly/2DHcIio

Bitcoin-Qt UI options for configuring Tor proxy: select one or both?

Bitcoin-Qt UI options for configuring Tor proxy: select one or both? I have two questions that I can't seem to find answers for anywhere, probably because they are noob questions, so please bear with me. I don't want this to be redundant and will close the thread if someone has a link to the answers somewhere. My goal is to run a full node that meets the following criteria: Reachable by both regular and Tor-only nodes to support the overall health of the network Broadcasts my own personal transactions via Tor (for privacy) So far, I have completed the below steps by following the very helpful instructions here and here Synced the node Checked the "Connect through SOCKS5 proxy (default proxy)" option in the UI and set it to 127.0.0.1:9050 so it connects to Tor Enabled Tor's control socket with CookieAuthentication and verified that the hidden onion service is automatically created by bitcoin via the logs with debub=tor Now, my two questions Do I need

Why does DPOS provide greater tps (faster) than Bitcoin-NG?

Why does DPOS provide greater tps (faster) than Bitcoin-NG? In Bitcoin-NG example Waves, a leader is elected who can then validate micro transactions, with speed limited by network propogation times. DPOS example EOS for example has 21 delegates ("block producers"). They validate transactions, and thereafter speed is limited by network propogation times. Typically DPOS is quoted as having something like 10x greater tps capacity than Waves (Bitcoin-NG) e.g. https://scryptoworld.com/waves-set-become-fastest-decentralized-blockchain-platform-globally/ (these figures seems a bit off but just an example) What is it that makes DPOS faster? Is hardware limitation a factor? e.g. together 21 block producers can sign more transactions when network is under stress (although network propogation is more of a barrier than signing speed? - and 21 bps (or majority) would all have to check the transactions anyway?) If a transaction is validated by 21 blocks producers then it is sent out

How are scriptless scripts and taproot different? I recently read Aaron van Wirdum's layman explanation of both scriptless scripts and taproot . JCE Cryptonote CPU+GPU Miner for AMD-based GPU Mining Rigs

Image
JCE Cryptonote CPU+GPU Miner for AMD-based GPU Mining Rigs When we are talking about Cryptonote (Cryptonight) miners for AMD GPUs our preferred miner is SRBMiner due to the large range of supported variations and features, however there is a good competitor available and that one is called JCE Cryptonote CPU+GPU miner. The JCE miner is a closed source software available as a binary for Windows only (for the GPU) and with 0.9% developer fee for the GPUs (the separate CPU miner is with higher fees, Linux version is available for this one). In terms of performance the JCE miner is pretty much on par with the fastest alternatives like SRB, sometimes it might be a bit faster, sometimes a bit slower, depending on the algorithm and settings. For instance our latest experience shows a bit better performance for Tube mining using JCE compared to the latest SRB 1.7.7 on RX 580. The JCE miner does support a lot of the Cryptonothe (Cryptonight) variations out there, so you can use it to mine pre

New Faster Open Source sgminer Fork With MTP Support From djm34 There is now a new sgminer fork with MTP support being actively developed by djm34 ( source ) that looks promising, though it might need some more extra work for becoming more stable stable and reliable. Performance results on AMD RX 580 and AMD VEGA GPUs are quite good compared to what Nvidia MTP miners are currently offering and hashrate is much better than what the only available option with MTP support for ADM so far was delivering up until now – WildRig Multi . So if you are interested in mining ZCoin using the MTP algorithm on AMD you might want to give the new sgminer fork a try, there are two separate kernels available – mtp and mtp_vega and you might try both on your AMD GPUs to see what works better. Do note that the sgminer fork with MTP support is currently only available with a Windows binаry, though since it is open source you can try compiling it on Linux. – To download and try the sgminer fork with MTP su

Fastest way to generate millions of public keys from private keys (Python/C#)

Fastest way to generate millions of public keys from private keys (Python/C#) I have run into a problem when trying to generate public keys from my mnemonics via privatekeys. The mnemonic -> privkey is fairly fast. Although when deriving the m/44./0./0./0/0 public adress it takes about a 1.2s, which is way too slow. I first thought this was typical for the hasing functions, but when generating privatekeys online I see that one can generate 20-30 publickeys per seconds on a simple web-script. Do anyone have a solution or could point me in the right direction on how to do this? I have a text-document with a couple of million privkeys to go through and would appreciate all help. Calculate mnemonic code from terminal

Calculate mnemonic code from terminal I want to replicate mnemonic code with terminal. the steps are: Create a random sequence (entropy) of 128 to 256 bits. Create a checksum of the random sequence by taking the first (entropy- length/32) bits of its SHA256 hash. Add the checksum to the end of the random sequence. Divide the sequence into sections of 11 bits. Map each 11-bit value to a word from the predefined dictionary of 2048 words. The mnemonic code is the sequence of words. I can see this image And I take this entropy 0c1e24e5917779d297e14d45f14e1a1a If I follow the image, I create the checksum printf 0c1e24e5917779d297e14d45f14e1a1a | xxd -r -p | sha256sum -b result 76e57a90f93135e97ce700a9e79196ba46315d65e696d0a4518270a8de3e80e4 Then take 4 bits (0,5 byte => 1 char ) and append to my entropy with this result: 0c1e24e5917779d297e14d45f14e1a1a7 Now I have 132 bits And I have to split in 12 segments of 11 bits each I try to convert in base 2 echo &quo

None of us love terrorists

None of us love terrorists None of us love terrorists. A few of us study and admire warfare and revolutionary spirit and history and daring battles, but that doesn't match actual facts on the ground. War is 1% heroism and 99% death, destruction, scorched earth for causes nobody can remember. Terrorists are 100% ruthless killers that will stop at nothing. This however does not mean that we as a society should change our lives to suit the agenda of the terrorist. The theory of terrorism clearly aims to achieve maximum media blitz, because the terrorist wishes to recruit at home. More blitz, more willing immatures to the cause. If you are reporting on terrorism, as I am today, you are part of the problem not the solution. Slice the lifeline of international media attention, kill the thrill. Cut the media buzz, there will be no global endorsement of the worthiness of the terrorist's pathetic message. No worthy cause, no local hillbilly to take up arms. The response of an intelligen

How does the theory of terrorism stack up against AML? Badly - finally a case in Kenya: Dusit

How does the theory of terrorism stack up against AML? Badly - finally a case in Kenya: Dusit Finally, an actual financial system & terrorism case lands before the courts, relating to the Dusit attack. Is this a world first? I don't know because this conjunction is so rare, nobody's tracking it. The essential gripe is that since 9/11 the financial world decided to slap the terrorism label on their compliance process. Yet to no avail. Very few cases, so small that they fall between bayesian cracks. So misdirected because terrorists have options, and they can adjust their approach to slip under they radar. Backfiring because the terrorists are already outside norms and will do as much damage as needed, thus further harming the financial system. And so hopeless because your true terrorist doesn't care about being caught afterwards - he's either dead or sacrificed. Anyway, that's the theory - anti-terrorism applied to the financial system simply won't work. Let&

Lightning Network: Is it creating 3 transactions instead of 2?

Lightning Network: Is it creating 3 transactions instead of 2? I'm watching this Lightning Network presentation by the original authors. At 9 minutes in, he notes that all the network sees will be a transaction to the multisig address and then a transaction to Alice for 0.8 BTC and a transaction to Bob for 0.2 BTC. Is all of this effectively 3 transactions? Would it not be cheaper and clog the blockchain less by simpling having Alice send 0.1 BTC to Bob and then another 0.1 BTC to Bob and have 2 transactions instead of 3? http://bit.ly/2Wt8IcK
